SCH Mother's Day card

Fabulous Friday is here again, and it's been a busy week for me with a mid-term tomorrow I've been preparing for....wish me well!

In between working and studying, I did find time to play and created this Mother's Day card using the Dogwood digi from Sugar Creek Hollow.

The flower was a gift from Crystal, thank you!  She brought me a bunch in different colours, and I was excited to have something new to play with.  It's hard to see in the photo, but it was white, and I used the airgun to add pink to the edges to match the Dogwood flowers.

The sentiment was typed in Word and then printed, and the label behind it was one I snagged from Crystal.

Monday's here, I hope you all had good weekends.  I didn't get lost driving to school on Saturday, and didn't have to leave the house Sunday, so it was definitely an improvement on last weekend!  Now back to work Monday...To cheer those others of you up also who are back to work for the week, here's a perky little asian themed card using an image from Mo's:

The paper in the background is origami paper from Micheals.  The image is coloured with Copics and Spica pens.  I left room to add a sentiment later.  I expect I'll use it as a good luck card, as I seem to go through lots of those.

Recipe challenge

Today Paper Sundaes has a challenge for you to work with a recipe.  No, you don't have to get out your Kitchenaid or Bakers chocolate, in this case the challenge was to make a card using the following ingredients:
 - 3 Patterned paper
 - 2 Cardstock
 - 1 Flower

Here's my creation:

The image is a House Mouse image that I thought was perfect for Spring.  It's coloured with copics, and the rain drops are accented with glossy glaze so they look wet.

Another Fabulous Friday with Sugar Creek Hollow

Hi all!

The weekends almost here, I hope you all have great plans ahead!  I'm off to school all day tomorrow, but hoping to spend some crafty time with a friend on Sunday, so that's something to look forward to.

Since I've been in a purple phase, I thought I'd keep at it.  In this case I turned these Dogwood flowers into Violets again.

The image is from the Dogwood set at SCH.  It's coloured with Copics, and the shading around it is with the Copic Airgun.

Spring Flourishes card

Well, Wednesday (otherwise known as hump day) is here and I've got the day off from work so am madly trying to catch up on all kinds of things....taxes, homework, housecleaning, swaps, design team deadlines, posting to SNR and PCP....think it might be more relaxing to be at work LOL!

Anyway, as I was uploading pics to one of the sites I noticed this lovely card that I made before going on vacation that I had never posted!  It escaped my notice since I gave it away as part of a gift to our customer service gal at the resort and so, as they say, "out of sight out of mind".  I'm glad I got a pic of it to remind me.

This card was made using a Flourishes image form Alica, thank you Alica!  It's coloured with copics, and the grass in the background is from an SU set.

Sunday with Meljen's

Sunday has come around again, can't believe how fast this week went by!  I'm back to school once again, filling in those "free" hours when I'm not working with going to school---though a lot of those hours have been spent driving in circles trying not to cry since I'm lost and late.  This week I drove out to the school (at the apex of a triangle, an hour from home and an hour from work) 3 times this week and got lost each time.  Hopefully I've got lost in all the ways possible now and it'll be smooth sailing going forward!

Anyway, I did manage, late at night when I could have been sleeping, to get a card done.  I used last weeks CPS sketch, and used the challenge from Paper Sundaes to use no people and focus the card on animals.  I used an image from this weeks Sponsor, Meljen's Designs.

I love cards with bumble bees, so when I saw this image I knew it had to be the one.  Thank you to Leslie who sent me this honeycomb embossed card stock a while back, it sure has come in handy a few times now.  The image is coloured with copics.  The background was done with the airbrush and then I went over it with a blender pen to get the mottled look.

We've got a great sketch today from Sugar Creek Hollow, I made a quick and simple card using one of the Dogwood images (thought I coloured it as a violet).  I love flower images, and this one is easy to colour and so pretty!

Gift box

Here's a quick and economical project I made this weekend for a gift.  I wanted to give a bunch of cards as a gift and needed a sturdy box for the recipient to store them.  At first I was just going to use an empty box that had held envelopes, but I was worried it wasn't sturdy enough, and certainly not very pretty, then I realized I could dress it up and in the process make it stronger.  Here's the result:

All I used was the box the envelopes came in, one sheet of 12x12 card stock thickness double sided DP (Martha Stewart Paper from Winners), lots of that sticky tape stuff (adhesive) and some ribbon/embellishments.

To get started I analyzed the box, measured it and made myself a map:

Then I scored and cut the DP based on that:

Next, I put the tape adhesive all over the box:

Then it was a simple matter to put it together, and decorate with ribbon and bits and pieces.  To make it easier to open I stapled a tab of ribbon in the centre of the lid where it opens.  Here's the finished box:

Butterfly scene

Happy Sunday!

Once again we have a Paper Sundae challenge for you, and this one is really fun.  The challenge is to create a scene.

For my card, I decided to create a nature scene, using my copics and airgun, two different SU sets (for the grass and flowers), and a Spellbinders die cut (for the butterfly), as well as a digi sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs.

Go with all your heart

Hubby deserted me tonight to go to the hockey game, so I decided to be productive and create something pretty.  I planned to post it tomorrow after I'd photographed it in the morning light, but was so happy with it and so impatient (shocking, I know LOL!) that I had to post it now....please forgive the bad lighting of the photo...

This card was created using a Sweet Pea stamp from Paper Jewels called Bamboo Seranade.  The sentiment is from an SU set, the background I clear embossed using a very old background stamp from SU, and the bug thing I cut out of velum cardstock with a spellbinder die cut and coloured using my copics with an airgun.  The image is coloured with copics too, using direct to paper as well as airbrush.

The weekend is here, and the weathers been good, so I'm planning some gardening for tomorrow, wish me luck that the weeds pull easily and the spiders and insects hide :-)
